• James was growing up in Modesto, CA, USA.
• He is curently living in Los Angeles.
• James is left-handed.
• Owner of two scares. One is on his left eyebrow from an attempted mugging in Astoria, Queens when he lived in New York. The second one is on his left leg and he has it from his childhood, from an accident with sprinkler head. James was almost for a year bedbound. He discovered the love to books and theatre during his forced bedbound.
• He was co-founder of The New Mercury Theatre Company.
• When he lived in New York he found tom-cat and named him Zachary, he remained with James until he died in 2000 (14).
• James started to play guitar when he was nine years old. When he was thirteen he discovered punk-rock. He called himself "The Modesto Freak" because he started to dress and acted bolshy to shock people. He attended Grace M. Davis High School in Modesto and at this time he joined a band called The Vandals and played with them in local clubs.
• James graduated from Davis High School and attended the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (PCPA) in Santa Maria, California and American Conservatory Theatre. After that he was accepted to the prestigious The Julliard School in New York dor 3 years - Drama division program, but was kicked out after two years because of his disagreement with Julliard's teachers.
• He spent 10 years doing stage work and performed in various plays in New York, Chicago and Seattle, before he finally moved to Los Angeles in order to earn money to ensure his family and pursue a career in film and television acting.
• After the end of Angel he shaved his famous platinum hair for charity in live TV Show Ryan Seacrest Show on May 1, 2004. He gains $25.000 and all money went to The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
• He likes to listen to all kind of music, prefers jazz and rock. Among his favourite interpreter are Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Radiohead, Miles Davis, Nirvana, Charlie Parker, Bob Dylan, The White Stripes, Nick Drake, John Lee Hooker, Bell&Sebastian and The Cure.
• He gained international fame playing punk-goth Brit vampire Spike in the critically highly acclaimed American TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the equally popular spin-off Angel.
• He starred in movies Winding Roads, The House On Haunted Hill and Chance with Buffy co-star Amber Benson and Angel co-star Andy Hallet, the movie Cool Money based on true crime, thriller Shadow Puppets, romantic love story P.S. I Love You, TV miniseries The Capture Of The Green River Killer and currently Dragonball.
• His other TV roles include TV series - Northern Exposure, Millenium, The Mountain, Strange Frequency, Andromeda, Saving Grace, Smallville, Without A Trace and Torchwood.
• James also do lot of voice work. He voiced Lex Luthor in the animated DVD movie Superman Doomsday and for TV he voiced Sergei in animated Spiderman TV Series. James also narrated 4 The Dresden Files audio books.
• His inspiration and personal hero is Dr. Martin Luther King.
• His favourite actors are Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro and Edmund Kean – British scenic actor from 18th century.
• He likes steak with jacket potatoes, sweets – especially lollipops and chocolate.
